Cotton Market News and Commentary

Cotton futures are down another sharp 135 to 151 points on Thursday. Nearby March hit 1-year lows earlier today. US and China trade representatives are expected to meet in early January face to face talks as part of the 90-day timeline. The weekly Export Sales website shows this week’s report will be released on Friday, but a call to their offices states the employees are still on furlough and not in the office. The Cotlook A index was down 175 points from the previous day on Dec 24 at 81.65 cents/lb. The weekly USDA AWP of 68.35 cents/lb is scheduled for an update today, if the partial government shutdown permits it.

Mar 19 Cotton is at 72.15, down 135 points,

May 19 Cotton is at 73.36, down 137 points

Jul 19 Cotton is at 74.27, down 151 points
