Cotton Market News and Commentary

Cotton futures are posting 80 to 101 point losses in the front months, after another round of disappointing export sales. The weekly Export sales report showed US exporters of upland cotton booking 142,349 RB in the week of 12/13. That was well above the week prior but still 57.4% below the same week last year. China was still absent this week, shown at a net reduction of 2,036 RB. Vietnam led the way, purchasing 49,400 RB, with 46,500 RB sold to Bangladesh. The Cotlook A index was down 75 points from the previous day on Dec 19 at 86.05 cents/lb. The weekly USDA AWP was updated to 68.35 cents/lb this morning, down 142 points from the week prior.

Mar 19 Cotton is at 75.7, down 101 points,

May 19 Cotton is at 77.1, down 91 points

Jul 19 Cotton is at 78.33, down 80 points
